    Daily checklist:

    Did you achieve your goals?

Almost, I worked hard today searching for experts on my standard. Also I have found many sources for each of my bookmarks. Ive been able to stay on task and finish my pbl planing form. Im relieved because it means less work for the remainder of the week.

    Daily Goal

For this week, I would like to acomplish many goals for my first pbl.
    - I first want to research and learn more about the World History Standard 7.
    - I need to get feedback from the experts I've found
    - come up with an idea to present my project.

    last week work habits

Last week, being my first week here at the OH, I didn't do much work. I mainly spent my time researching about my standard, but nothing much got done. Now that I have more of an idea of what I'm suppose to be doing I can use my time effectively. I can stay on task now because I have a rubric and assignments for my project.

    Standard 7

    World History PBL
Standard 7: Recognize significant causes, events, figures, and consequences of the Great War period and the impact on worldwide balance of power.

What I think I know about Standard 7:
    • The Great war is also known as World War 1.
    • It was the start of weapon technology change.
    • It began in the early 20th century and lasted for a few years.
    • Treaty of Versailles?

    Metacognition

Metacognition is defined as knowing about knowing. To breat it down; Meta from the greek language has many meanings, but in this word it is defined as beyond. Cognition is defined as knowing. There for the derivitives are beyond and knowing. My thought of the metacognition meaning is beyond your thought. You master the thought or idea that you know. I would define it as to "know"" something "beyond" great detail that most people dont know.

    Ohpedia Rubic Creation

As a group we analyed and recorded what most wikipedia's contained. see below. Then decided what would help a site like wikipedia be more interesting and appealing to their viewers. But still keeping the accurrate information. We discussed that having more colors and themes would help it become more flashy and visited. Wikipedia had a good idea on table of contents. The t.o.c. gives you a fast link to the sub-category you want to read about.

    PBL?

This is my first week at the Oh-institute. They base their classes on Flvs (Flordia Virtual School) and pbl's (project based learnings). The pbl classes are for English and History. This is good for me and my education because I have more options here than at public school. This allows me to choose what I would like to learn and be able to master that topic. At the same time I can learn the other standards by studying other students pbls.

What I'd like to learn: I am interested in many subjects. Yet nothing comes to mind of anything specific I want to learn about. Hopefully my passsion and creativity for a subject will show up when beginning to start pbl work. At public school we learn about popular historical events from outdated books. Pbls give me the chance to learn from many resources.

With Project based learning I can be creative and have fun learning about different standards. It seems to be better to educate visual learning, which I am. Yet it can be easy to stray off task. It takes commitment but is still enjoyable.  I'm very excited to learn by pbl.
